The Ordinance Committee hearing must take place within 65 days of introduction at the City Council.

The Planning Board hearing must take place at least 21 days prior to the date of ordination.

The expiration date is 90 days after the first hearing at the City Council Ordinance Committee (State law).

After being Passed to a 2nd Reading, a proposed Ordinance must be advertised “in a paper of general circulation”, i.e. the Cambridge Chronicle, for 10 days before the matter can come to a final vote. Because the Chronicle deadline for submission of Legal Notices is on Fridays for the following Thursday paper, this means that 3 weeks will typically pass between being Passed to a 2nd Reading and possible Ordination.
