Shoo, fly. When well-meaning laws like the Open Meeting Law degenerate into vehicles for malcontents to act out their psychological issues, it's time for the State Legislature to consider amending the laws to better respect their intended purpose. City officials should not be required to waste their time on complaints such as the two listed above. - RW
Perhaps we can speak more generally of where the whole "Envision Cambridge" citywide planning process might lead or should lead, what the potential pitfalls are, and what some of the best outcomes might be.
There's lots to work with here - especially in regard to ensuring that all voices and interests are represented in the process. I attended some of the Growth Planning meetings in the early 1990s where there was some good effort spent trying to get appropriate representation even though the process wasn't nearly as public as I'm guessing the upcoming one will be. - RW
