Maher and Councillor Brian Murphy, Co-Chairs of the Ordinance Committee, for a meeting held on January 15, 2003 for the purpose of further consideration of a proposed amendment to the Smoking Ordinance to ban smoking in bars and restaurants. The question comes on ordination on or after February 24, 2003.

9. A communication was received from D. Margaret Drury, City Clerk, transmitting a report from Councillor David P. WHEREAS: The past several years have seen the evolution of Green Street from Brookline Street to River Street; and
WHEREAS: The Holmes Block has been completely rebuilt, buses have been re-routed and new bus stop locations identified; and
WHEREAS: The Greek American Political Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Green Street Grill all have lively attendance in the early afternoon and late and weekend periods; now therefore be it
ORDERED: That the City Manger be and hereby is requested to instruct the Director of Traffic, Parking and Transportation to review Green Street, particularly the block between Pearl and Magazine Streets for the possibility of having on- street parking on the Massachusetts Avenue side, particularly in the evenings due to the fact that the Green Street Garage is filled evenings and weekends and cars are miraculously ticketed; and be it further
ORDERED: Could the city offer some legal on-street parking at this location so as not to rely on persons who now simply park because they see that others have done so.

to Douglas Foy, Chief of Commonwealth Development, requesting support from the
Governor’s office in examining development issues on a regional basis in the
greater Alewife area; and be it further
