CITY MANAGER’S AGENDA
2. Transmitting communication from Robert W. Healy, City Manager, relative to Awaiting Report Item Number 03-41, regarding a report on an analysis of Governor Romney’s plan linking local aid to housing construction in Massachusetts and its potential impact on Cambridge.
3. Transmitting communication from Robert W. Healy, City Manager, relative to the transfer of $25,000 from the Employee Benefits (Salary Adjustment) account to the Veterans’ Travel & Training Account (Veterans’ Benefits) to provide funds to cover higher-than-anticipated costs for direct payments to veterans.

8. A communication was received from D. Margaret Drury, City Clerk, transmitting a report from Councillor David P. Maher and Councillor Brian Murphy, Co-Chairs of the Ordinance Committee, for a meeting held on January 15, 2003 for the purpose of further consideration of a proposed amendment to the Smoking Ordinance to ban smoking in bars and restaurants. The question comes on ordination on or after February 24, 2003.
9. Transmitting communication from Robert W. Healy, City Manager, relative to the Disposition Report for Trolley Square, prepared by the Community Development.
10. A communication was received from D. Margaret Drury, City Clerk, transmitting a report from Councillor David P. Maher and Councillor Brian Murphy, Co-Chairs of the Ordinance Committee, for a meeting held on February 12, 2003 for the purpose of considering proposed amendments to Section 2.84.030 and 2.84.050 of the Municipal Code, covering the "Kids Council." The question comes on ordination on or after April 14, 2003.
APPLICATIONS AND PETITIONS
1. An application was received from Bosstown, requesting permission for a table to display merchandise and a sandwich board sign at the premises numbered 198 River Street.
2. An application was received from Fitcorp, requesting permission for a sign at the premises numbered 600 Technology Square. Approval has been received from Inspectional Services, Community Development Department and abutters.
3. An application was received from Au Bon Pain, requesting permission for an awning at the premises numbered 27 Brattle Street. Approval has been received from Inspectional Services, Community Development Department and abutters.
4. An application was received from David C. Willoughby, requesting a curb cut at the premises numbered 247 Chestnut Street; said petition has received approval from Inspectional Services, Traffic, Parking and Transportation, Historical and Public Works. Three neighborhood association letters were sent. One neighborhood response received.
5. An application was received from Jill Toney, requesting a curb cut at the premises numbered 45 Creighton Street; said petition has received approval from Inspectional Services, Traffic, Parking and Transportation, Historical and Public Works. Two neighborhood associations received letters. One neighborhood association has disapproved and one neighborhood association responded that as a group they are evenly split, half for and half against.
COMMUNICATIONS
1. A communication was received from Dan Guadagnoli, Director of Finance, YWCA, regarding the YWCA outstanding Water and Sewer Balance.
2. A communication was received from Virginia William, regarding the condition of the curb and sidewalk between 3-5 Harwell Drive.
3. A communication was received from Hansa Realty Trust, owners of 353-363 Allston Street, transmitting written protest to the re-filed Carlson Petition and the Cambridge Planning Board Petition.
4. A communication was received from Myopia Trust, owners of 300 Putnam Avenue, transmitting written protest to the re-filed Carlson Petition and the Cambridge Planning Board Petition.
5. A communication was received from David Albert et al., transmitting support to develop the Trolley Square site.
6. A communication was received from the family of Mr. William Ewing, Sr., transmitting appreciation for the resolution adopted by the City Council.
7. A communication was received from Peter Valentine, regarding actions against SARS.
8. A communication was received from A. Joseph DeNucci, Auditor of the Commonwealth, transmitting thanks for the resolution extending sympathy on the passing of his mother.
9. A communication was received from Peter T. Ellison, urging the City Council to oppose the Planning Board Riverside Rezoning Petition/Carlson Rezoning Petition.

Life in the City of Cambridge is enriched beyond measure by the men and women from many places, cultures, and disciplines who come to its institutions of higher learning; and
WHEREAS: Our community enjoyed the presence of David M. Berray, his wife Alison, and their daughter Lauren, while David studied to earn a Master’s degree in the Management of Technology program at the MIT Sloan School of Management, a degree awarded in the year 2000; and
WHEREAS: After the birth of their son, Lachlan, David’s life was taken from us, on September 11, 2001, in the disaster at the World Trade Center in New York City; now therefore be it
RESOLVED: That the City Council go on record declaring May 17, 2003, the day of the dedication of a memorial bench and tree at the Metropolitan District Commission playlot in Riverbend Park, located on Mount Auburn Street, as David M. Berray Day in the City of Cambridge; and be it further
RESOLVED: That the City Clerk be and hereby is requested to prepare a suitably engrossed copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of David M. Berray at the May 17, 2003 dedication.
