The “Getting to Net Zero Task Force” is charged with advancing the goal of putting Cambridge on the trajectory towards becoming a “net zero community”, with focus on carbon emissions from building operations. This includes reducing energy use intensity of buildings and taking advantage of opportunities to harvest energy from renewable sources. This committee will be working collaboratively with a team of technical consultants with support from City staff to examine strategies and develop recommendations that address the following topics:
• Reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the built environment
• Improve energy efficiency and conservation in existing and new buildings
• Support renewable energy generation both on- and off-site
• Best practices to engage and educate users and influence occupant behavior

The City of Cambridge and Cambridge Legislators will be hosting an Informational Meeting to provide Cambridge residents with an opportunity to learn more about the I-90 Allston Interchange project. This is a MassDOT highway project that will straighten the Massachusetts Turnpike in the area of the Allston toll-plaza with the goals of reducing traffic, improving safety, and enabling all-electronic, open-road tolling. Rail, bus, bicycle, and pedestrian improvements may also be included as parts of this project. The City and local legislators will be hosting an informational meeting on May 1st at 6:00pm in the Sullivan Chamber of Cambridge City Hall. MassDOT officials will be on hand to discuss the project and answer questions. Any questions or requests prior to the meeting can be made to Rep. Toomey's office by calling 617-722-2380.

This event will be held rain or shine and will enable residents to safely dispose of unwanted records and documents. Documents will be destroyed on the spot in a highly advanced technical mobile shredding truck provided by Shred King Corporation.

Ten minute drop-off parking will be available on Massachusetts Avenue (between Pleasant & Sellers streets). Residents can also stop by for information on tips to avoid identity theft, fraud and scams, the City’s recycling and composting programs, and other topics.

7:00pm   The HYM Investment Group Zoning Petition to amend Article 13.70 Planned Unit Development in the North Point Residence District of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Cambridge in the following way, replace clause (ii) of Section 13.73.1 with the following:

(ii) No off street parking is provided except as permitted by the Planning Board in a Special Permit up to 0.5 spaces per 1,000 gross square feet.

The purpose is to allow limited amounts of off-street retail parking which is not currently allowed in the North Point District.

The Design Review of the hotel will take place during this public hearing. The applicant is BHX, LLC as Trustee of Acorn Park Holdings Realty Trust (Bulfinch).

The effects of the proposed change would include but not be limited to the following: The minimum lot area per dwelling unit would increase from 600 square feet to 1,500 square feet, the yard requirements would increase, the height limit would be reduced from 45 feet to 35 feet, and only residential uses would be allowed.
