Come hear about the issues, then make your views known.
Speakers will present for 5 minutes, then answer questions posed by CUE, then answer questions posed from the audience.
Marc Kenan, Executive Director of the Mass. Charter School Association, will address questions on how charter schools operate in Massachusetts and how they compare to other public schools.
Rob Riordan, One of three Founders of Cambridge Community Charter School, former CRLS teacher, will speak about why a new charter school is being proposed.
Paul Toner, President of the Cambridge Teacher’s Association, will address questions related to the impact of the proposed school on CPS, from his perspective.

Parking proposal for Long Funeral Home and Understanding the Building, Unit sizes and Setbacks

At the October 14 hearing, a majority of the Board of Zoning Appeal (BZA) members were prepared to vote for a continuance to gather more facts. Acting on what proved to be bad advice from the city attorney that a supermajority (4-1 or 5-0) was needed to do so, the BZA voted unanimously to deny our appeal of Commissioner Bersani's decision to not revoke the building permit for Long Funeral Home.

As part of the scramble to correct this error, PSNA was asked to begin discussions with the developer about how the outstanding issues could be resolved. These discussions have focused on the parking and understanding the building in more detail. On November 17, the BZA voted 5-0 to continue the matter to allow more time for discussions. The next hearing is scheduled for Thursday, January 27; the BZA may or may not reconsider their vote to deny our appeal.

At our December meeting, the developer will present his proposal for the Parking and Details about the Building. We want to use this meeting to establish a common set of facts, including enforcement mechanisms for any agreement that may be reached, and to discuss whether this proposal will address the parking impact of the project.

If you live within three blocks of the development, we especially ask you to be at the meeting. Your input will be extra important.

Meeting will be held at:

Hope Fellowship Church, Basement

16 Beech Street, Cambridge
